Himpunan Keilmuan Muda (HAKIM) in collaboration of Curiosity Institute (CI) and Angkatan Belia Islam Malaysia (ABIM) will be organizing a series of reading and discussion sessions on the theme of the worldview of Islam, where we will be poring over key and foundational texts related to the worldview of Islam on a weekly basis, guided by a scholar well-versed in and having intimate understanding of the selected text.
The series will kick off with a careful reading, review and exposition of Prof. Syed Naquib al-Attas's ISLAM AND SECULARISM.
It will be supervised by Associate Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zainy Uthman, who completed his Ph.D under the tutelage of Prof. Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas in 1997 and worked as the chief librarian at ISTAC from 1991 to 2002. This inaugural series will consists of 6 separate classes to be held every Friday night and spread over six weeks, beginning 11th June 2010 till 16th July 2010.

The details of the first class and following classes are as follows:
Date : 11th, 18th, 25th June, 2nd, 9th and 16th July 2010
Time : 8.00 p.m. - 10.30 p.m. (dinner will be served prior the discussion, shortly after Magrib)
Venue : Shafi'e Conference Room, Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Humanities (IRKH) building, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Gombak.

The first class has already kick-off on 11th June, and received warm support from participants. The classroom almost packed and the discussion lengthy has attracted the interest and enthusiastic of the participants.

Everything you possess of skill, and wealth and handicraft, wasn't it first merely a thought and a quest?
